Sweden Horse Riding - A Week to Remember
Have you ever wanted to really understand your horse...? Communication from the ground– how to achieve it and how to find true unity with your horse. A Midsummer-week with full immersion into the classic art of academic riding in the mornings, and long, beautiful trail rides in the forest in the afternoons. All of it on our well-mannered Swedish cold bloods, and while using bitless riding halters. We start off the first day with a clinic in Natural Horsemanship and communication, with focus on how we do things here at Kalvefall’s Gård. The following five days will comprise of morning clinics in basic equestrian riding in ”The Academical Art of Riding”. Here, all we do is first done by hand, from the ground, before actually sitting up in the saddle. An Academic rider will do a shoulder in, a shoulder out, piaffe, trot and canter.
The first day you say ”This is never going to work”, the second day you muse ”Well, this just might actually work”.
And the last day you are screaming ”This is magic, pure and simple!”
Through body communication. From the ground. While you are learning to train your horse from the ground, you are also learning how to coordinate your body movements, you increase your presence and feel the deeper communication between horse and human. This is a journey into your own, personal development, where the cooperation between you and the horse is strengthened. A cooperation you can then bring with you up into the saddle. You also learn how to train your horse to collect himself better, and you get to see what collection truly is. You will train and develop your own seat – wich is nothing else but the collection of the rider! Put together, these two are what constitutes the Art of Riding. Mariana Melin will introduce you into this classical riding style – she is an Academic Rider. You can also invest in some private lessons with her during the week. Mariana’s training is 2 hours with four participants = and the others are watching, filming etc, and then you swap, so that those who were watching becomes an active participant. You learn an incredible amount of things by watching the others work, and by the thorough evaluation you will do together of the filmed material. This goes on for four hours a day.
For the rides out in the deep forest, you will be accompanied by Olle and Anette – they teach and ride with release of pressure. Here you will learn how agile a huge North Swedish horse can be, in the right hands and with the right signals.
We also have to mention the pleasures of the table here, because we always aim for five-star experiences here at Kalvefall’s Gård, food included! Almost all our produce is from our forests and lakes, and the dishes are all from the traditional Swedish cuisine. Roe deer, char, moose, vegetables, sauces and good drinks…
Our rooms are all ensuite, single, double or triple, in one of the two small, red cottages at the farm – comfortable, soft beds and views over the farm and surrounding forest. On Midsummer’s night we will go to celebrate with the locals in Ydre!
